The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has issued an advisory directed towards pediatric physicians and related healthcare providers. The advisory seeks to alert providers as to 2022 updates to Public Health Law § 2509, which requires providers to supply parents, guardians, custodians, or other authorized individuals of pediatric patients with educational materials about Adverse Childhood Experiences.
To assist with this notification requirement, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), in consultation with not-for-profit entities, has created a brochure entitled Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE), which is available for download here.
