A physician, dentist, or any other healthcare provider that lost privileges, or got terminated for refusing a required COVID-19 vaccination can be reported by their hospital or practice to the National Practitioner Data Bank. If you lost your privileges for more than 30 days or have been terminated, there’s a due process in place that will make sure you are treated fairly. A hearing or peer review will process your actions to see if they endangered the welfare of any patient. If so, the entity is required to report you to the NPDB as a physician or dentist in violation. Other healthcare providers that violate may also be reported to the NPDB. However, if the 30 day plus suspension or termination is not mandatory for a healthcare workers refusal to take the COVID-19 vaccination , it is not reportable. As usual, the devil is in the details. If you’re required to be vaccinated and refuse, be prepared for all the consequences, not just the ones to your physical health.
